KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After getting only five hours of sleep since winning his third super bowl ring on Sunday, Chiefs trainer David Glover, Jr. is finally back home in Kansas City to put a bow on another banner year.
"I am a three-time Super Bowl champion and that is something even in my wildest dreams coming out of MCC in Muskegon that I would ever say," Glover said.
The 1996 Muskegon Catholic Central High School graduate says this is probably his second favorite of his three Super Bowl victories, just because nothing will ever top the first time reaching the mountaintop. But the feeling never gets old.
"It is still somewhat surreal to be Super Bowl champions again," Glover said.
Glover says being on the sidelines during that overtime finish was so crazy he almost got an ulcer.
"There's a lot of internal praying going on during games like that, during timeouts and different situations like that," Glover said. "You're trying to calm yourself enough to continue to concentrate on what you have to do and block out the nerves and butterflies."
He's certainly thankful three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes does not get those same level of nerves in the big games.
After yet another win in the big game, Glover can't help but reflect on his journey.
"Huge shout out to the Crusaders there in Muskegon, the Chippewas of Central Michigan and to the Pirate of Seton Hall all showing love and support to me throughout the week," Glover said.
There is not too much time to celebrate for Glover. After the parade in Kansas City on Wednesday, it's time to begin preparations for the NFL Combine at the end of February. He hopes the Chiefs can earn the coveted three-peat after next season.
