ZEELAND, Mich. — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced new road and intersection closures for the I-196 Business Loop rebuild project.
Beginning on Monday, April 29, several roads and intersections will be closed along I-196 Business Loop between Holland and Zeeland. Here's what is going to be affected:
- Waverly Road (120th Avenue) is scheduled to close at EB I-196 Business Loop starting at 7 a.m. on April 29 and lasting through May 19.
- Several intersections are scheduled to close April 29 and 30 at EB I-196 Business Loop between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day. MDOT says those intersections will close one at a time. Those intersections include:
- 101st Street
- 100th Avenue
- 96th Avenue (State Street)
- 92nd Avenue (Maple Street)
- 88th Avenue (Fairview Road)
- Lane closures are in effect now through May 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on WB I-196 Business Loop from 88th Avenue to 104th Avenue.
- EB I-196 Business Loop will remain closed from US-31 to 88th Avenue through Aug. 1.
MDOT also announced that the ramp from EB I-196 Business Loop to SB US-31 is scheduled to reopen the night of April 26.
MDOT says that the project is aiming to improve the ride and is a long-term investment for the service life of the road.
