GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — The Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority (DDA) voted unanimously Wednesday to commit $20.5 million of funding for the Acrisure Amphitheater.

The estimated $184 million project has about $157.5 million accounted for from private and public funding.

In addition to the $20.5 million pledged by the DDA, $15 million has been committed by Kent County and another $22 million pledged by the Kent County Convention/Arena Authority (CAA). The State of Michigan also provided $30 million in public funding in the form of a grant.

There has also been $70 million pledged from private funding, including $30 million from Acrisure, the company that purchased the naming rights for the amphitheater.

The City of Grand Rapids has also supported the project indirectly by paying to decommission a sewer line running through the site, reconstructing portions of Market Avenue and relocating the city's operations off of the site.

A design development package is slated to be released later this month. Demolition of structures at the proposed site could begin as early as May 2024 and construction is estimated to be completed in 2026.

An opening for the amphitheater is currently scheduled for May 2026.
