GRANDVILLE, Mich. — Grandville senior Maddie Kreiger is the Meijer Scholar Athlete of the Week. This season, Kreiger became the program's all-time leading scorer, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.
Kreiger is one of the team captains this season and is also a youth lacrosse coach in her spare time. She is also a member of the National Honor Society as well as an ambassador for Morgan's Message. Morgan's Message is a group that helps to eliminate the stigmas surrounding mental health.
Kreiger will be headed to Detroit Mercy in the fall as a member of their lacrosse team. As she is set to play her final high school games, Kreiger hopes that everything she's been able to accomplish can help motivate the next group of Bulldogs after her.
"Me and the few of the other captains took on the idea of making sure we are accounting for the whole athlete and not just the one on the field or the one in the classroom," said Kreiger. "I've tried really hard to show these girls that you can do anything you put your mind to and that it doesn't matter what happens on the field or in the class room, we care about you as a whole person."
